dc.description.abstract	Avrupa’da 19. yüzyılda üretimin artması ve ticaretin gelişmesi sonucu başlangıçta ulusal olarak yapılan sergiler, 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısından itibaren uluslararası olarak organize edilmiştir. Osmanlı Devleti Avrupa’daki teşkil edilen uluslararası sergilere ülkenin tanıtımı açısından önemli olacağı düşüncesiyle katılmaya özen göstermiş ve Avrupa’da organize edilen uluslararası sergilerin çoğuna iştirak etmiştir. Osmanlı Devleti’nde uluslararası sergilerin katılımı yanında ülkede bir serginin açılmasının ülkenin sanayisi açısından önem arz edeceği ve ülkede ne gibi ürünlerin üretildiği hakkında halkın haberdar olmasını teşvik edeceği gibi sebeplerle bir sergi açma düşüncesi oluşmuştur. Bu doğrultuda Mustafa Fazıl Paşa yönetiminde bir kurul oluşturulmuş ve sergi 1863 senesi Ramazan ayında İstanbul’da açılmıştır. Sergi komitesi sergiyi organize ederken serginin duyurulmasında gazetelerden faydalanmış ve gazeteleri etkin kullanmıştır. Dönemin yayın organları da İstanbul’da düzenlenen sergiye ilgi göstermiştir. Gazetelerde yazı yazan dönemin aydınları sergilerin öneminden ve ekonomiye olan etkisinden bahsetmiş ve sergiye katılımı teşvik etmiştir. Bu çalışmada ülkede açılan ilk sergi olan 1863 Sergi-i Umumi-i Osmani’yi gazeteler gözüyle incelenmiştir.
dc.description.abstract	In Europe, in the 19th century, expositions were organised nationally at first as a result of development in trade and increase on production. As of the second half of the 19th century, these expositions were held internatinoally. Ottoman Empire cared to oin this international expositions in Europe in contemplation of promoting of the statae and joined most of the expositions. An idea to open an exposition in the Ottoman Empire was formed in the course of the time because an exposition would be important fort he country’s industry and would provide the society to be informed about the production of the industry. In this direction, a board was formed under Mustafa Fazıl Paşa and the exposition was opened in the month of Ramadan in 1863 in Istanbul. While organizing the event, exposition committee benefited from the newspapers and used them effectively. The media organs of the period were also interested in the exposition. The intellectuals wrote about the significance of the exposition and exposition’s effects on economy on their collumns, and promoted the participation to event. In this study, Ottoman’s first exhibition 1863 Ottoman General Exposition is analyzed through newspapers of the period.
