Framing effects on renewable energy news
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2023) Yazıcı, Merve; Güner Gültekin, Duygu
The use and development of renewable energy technologies and sources have become a significant policy incentive in many countries across the globe. Promoting renewable energy was already instituted in most nations, but many legal and institutional barriers and public ambivalence remained. Thus, it has become necessary to encourage discussion on the issue. Press came into action to provide the required information and insight. However, the literature proved that the media was never utterly objective in this regard. Instead, the studies indicated that the focus of the news, articles, and reports represented a priori stance on the issues and served as promotional materials to support that previously embraced perspective. Scholars addressed two leading indicators of the frames embedded in national media. The most prevailing one is the current economic and political context. Forces such as the socio-economic situation, eco-political agenda and even international relations have influenced the farming employed by the press to either promote or degrade renewable energy technologies.

Sustainability, corporate social responsibility and renewable energy: The key takeaways
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2023) Akyüz, Ayşen; Temelli Coşgun, Asena
The world’s reliance on energy is growing. It is clear that the world’s economic growth approach from the Industrial Revolution to the present is no longer sustainable. The fact that the energy required in manufacturing processes is heavily reliant on non-renewable resources such as coal or natural gas, as well as the environmental damage caused by greenhouse gases generated as a result of the usage of fossil resources, makes economic progress difficult to sustain. Renewable energy resources reduce dependency on other countries in energy production, increase energy security, help increase energy efficiency, reduce air pollution, reduce carbon emissions and fuel leakage risk. Renewable energy also helps to protect the country’s natural resources and eco-system. It affects the sustainability of the entire economy, from job creation to resource efficiency. In this context, businesses can demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility by using renewable energy resources or by showing their support to these resources and the adoption/use of renewable energy should be a crucial part of their corporate social responsibility strategies.

Creating public opinion in digitalized renewable energy projects: The case of the Konya city
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2023) Eken, İhsan; Kurt, Sena
Turkey has a rich climate diversity, and it is one of the countries that has developed in recent years renewable energy production. Renewable energy resources, which are among the elements that ensure the economic independence of a country, can be listed as wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal resources. Turkey provides energy production through its resources. While engineering and geographical science studies stand out on this subject in the literature, there are limited studies on the social reflections of the subject. In this chapter, social reflections on solar energy production in Turkey were discussed and evaluated within the scope of public relations. According to the data published by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Konya produces the most solar energy in Turkey. Hence Konya City was chosen as the research universe. Focus group research was conducted with 16 participants selected from the residents of the city. The social reflections on solar energy were assembled according to the result of the interviews. This chapter aims to generate a guide in forming public opinion on environmental policies.

Social reflections of renewable energy: Wind energy in Turkey
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2022) Eken, İhsan; Kurt, Sena
The Renewable energy consumption is promoted nationally by various organizations and countries due to its environmentally friendly feature within the measures taken against the global climate crisis. Wind energy, which is one of the clean energy sources, can provide important environmental, economic, and social contributions. Wind power plants, which have been increased in Turkey, are causing social change within environmentalist views, thanks to the benefits. Social views on environmentalism can characterized as a driving force for development by forming the social footing for the spread of renewable energy. Thus, public consciousness is seen as with cause and effect. The environmental awareness of individuals living in Çanakkale city, where Çanakkale Wind Power Plant, one of the wind power plants producing the largest amount of electricity in Turkey, is located. The study was carried out with 591 participants by a survey method in Çanakkale. According to the results of the research, the education variable is the most important factor in environmental awareness. The place of residence of individuals is both the cause and the result of education.

Brand coolness in a competitive environment: An empirical study on starbucks Turkey
(Springer, 2020) Akyüz, Ayşen; Pınarbaşı, Fatih
Brand-consumer relationship is a major area of research for many years and many aspects of brand related concepts have been studied in different contexts. As being one of the fundamental brand phenomenons, brand personality has long been a question of interest among researchers. Brand coolness is a new topic in brand literature and a few studies have explored this concept empirically. In this exploratory study, the brand coolness of Starbucks, the significance levels related to frequency of coffee consumption and brand coolness’ characteristics and the relationship of brand coolness and attitude towards Starbucks Turkey are being explored. Three hundred and seven surveys, collected from university students between the dates of 17th and 20th of November, 2019, were taken into analysis. t-test and correlation analysis were conducted and findings have been indicated in the study.
