| dc.description.abstract | The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between tissue factor (TF) and Interleukin-33 (IL-33) and biochemical parameters in diabetic obese and non-diabetic obese patients. 21 healthy controls, 25 non-diabetic and 36 diabetic-obese patients were included in the study. While there was no difference between the groups in terms of IL-33 levels (p> 0.05), TF levels of diabetic obese group were statistically significantly higher than control group (p <0.05). HDL levels of the obese and diabetic obese groups were significantly lower than control group, and triglyceride, glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein (CRP), hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and HOMA-IR levels were significantly higher (p <0.05). A positive correlation was found between TF activity, and HbA1c and glucose levels (p <0.05). This suggests that TF may be predictive for diabetes which develop in the background of obesity, and that TF can be used as a prognostic value for diabetes. | |
