The role of small-scale wind turbines in increasing the competitiveness of hospitals
(IGI Global, 2023) Dinçer, Hasan; Eti, Serkan; Gökalp, Yaşar; Yüksel, Serhat; Çelebi, Büşra
Energy costs have become a very important problem for businesses, especially in recent years. As a result of these high costs, businesses may experience financial problems. If this situation cannot be managed effectively, the profitability of the enterprises will decrease. This will put the long-term sustainability of businesses at risk. This problem is also very important for hospitals. Recently, the energy costs of hospitals have started to become very serious among the total costs. As a result, the need for hospitals to produce their own energy arose. This will help hospitals achieve energy independence. As a result, it will be possible for energy costs to be more manageable in the long run. In this study, the effect of small-scale wind turbines on the competitiveness of hospitals was analyzed. In this context, four different criteria based on balanced scorecard have been determined. The importance of these criteria was tested with the fuzzy DEMATEL method.

Strategy generation for minimizing health risks to obtain economic development with pedroni panel cointegration analysis and AHP model
(Taylor and Francis, 2023) Dinçer, Hasan; Gökalp, Yaşar; Eti, Serkan; Yüksel, Serhat
The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between smoking, health expenditures, and budget balance. For this purpose, a two-stage analysis has been performed. Firstly, in order to identify the relationship between these three variables, the Pedroni cointegration method is taken into consideration. In this scope, the data set of ten countries with the highest smoking rate is included. The second part of the analysis includes the identification of the appropriate strategies to reduce smoking. Within this framework, AHP methodology is considered to weigh the strategies. It is obtained that there is a strong and long-term relationship between smoking, health expenditure, and budget balance. This situation gives information that when the smoking rate increases in a country, health expenditures will be higher. Similarly, the increase in health expenditures also leads to a higher debt burden. Thus, it is obvious that the most appropriate strategy is to take action in order to reduce smoking. According to AHP results, it is also identified that additional tax is the most significant strategy to minimize smoking in these countries. On the other side, education has the second highest weight. It is determined that the most optimal strategy for reducing smoking is to increase the tax rate for cigarette sales.

SERVQUAL-based evaluation of service quality in Turkish health industry with fuzzy logic
(IGI Global, 2020) Dinçer, Hasan; Yüksel, Serhat; Gökalp, Yaşar; Eti, Serkan
The aim of this study is to analyze the service quality in the Turkish health sector. In this context, a literature review is conducted, and 16 different criteria based on SERVQUAL are determined. Fuzzy DEMATEL method is used to determine which of these criteria are more important. The findings indicate that operating hours and quality of equipment have the highest weights. In addition to these items, experience of personnel and individual attention to patient are other important factors with respect to the service quality in Turkish health industry. Hence, it is strongly recommended that hospitals in Turkey should operate in an extended time because Turkish people prefer to go to the hospitals after working hours. It is also obvious that Turkish hospitals should make investment to quality equipment. Finally, it is a good idea for new hospitals to have qualified employee. This situation has a positive contribution to the service quality of these hospitals.

Role of personalization in shaping attitudes towards social media ads
    (IGI Global, 2021) Aydın, Gökhan
The present article aims to understand attitudes towards social media ads, one of the most recent and rapidly growing forms of digital advertisements. So far, little attention has been paid in developing countries to the most rapidly growing type of advertising and the present study aims to contribute to fill this research gap. A survey study was carried out to understand the attitudes using Ducoffe's advertising value model and extending it by the inclusion of "rewards" and "personalization" constructs. Facebook ads are used as a proxy for social media ads and a total of 327 questionnaires were collected from Turkish consumers, which were filtered down to 281 and analyzed using structural equation modelling. The findings indicate that credibility, personalization, informativeness and entertainment have direct positive effects on advertising value and have indirect effects on attitudes towards social media ads. Personalization emerged as a significant factor affecting all other related constructs.

Examining social commerce intentions through the uses and gratifications theory
    (IGI Global, 2021) Aydın, Gökhan
Changes in consumer behavior enabled by social networking technologies is leading to a transformation in e-commerce. Consumers' use of social media sites and relevant technologies for different aspects of shopping has become an issue of utmost concern to retailers and related businesses. Adopting a uses and gratifications theory (UGT) perspective, the article aims to demonstrate motives of users utilizing social media in their purchase decisions. Drawing from digital marketing and e-commerce literature, relevant uses and gratifications for social commerce (s-commerce) were chosen as information access, escape, entertainment, passing time, cool and new trends, and socialization. The proposed model was analyzed and tested via OLS regression and ANOVA analysis using the data collected from a survey study on 361 subjects in Turkey. Information access, relaxing entertainment, and socialization motives emerged as significant antecedents of s-commerce intentions. No significant effect of demographics on social commerce intentions were observed in the analysis.

The role of health policies for the strategic investment decisions of the international companies
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2021) Gökalp, Yaşar; Di?nçer, Hasan; Eti, Serkan
This study aims to evaluate the effects of health investments in the country on the decisions of foreign investors are examined. Within this framework, it has been examined whether foreign investments will increase if health investments are increased. In this context, E7 countries are included in the study. On the other hand, Kao and Pedroni panel cointegration analyzes are used in the analysis process of the study. The findings indicate that there is a two-way relationship between health expenditures and FDI. In this context, increasing health investments contribute to the increase of foreign investments in the country. In addition, states give more importance to health investments when foreign investments increase. Hence, it is recommended that countries should pay attention to health expenditures. In this context, the state should primarily invest in the health sector. Moreover, the state should also support private sector investors. It would be appropriate to take some measures regarding this issue. For example, a tax advantage can be provided to private sector investors who want to invest in healthcare. In addition, these investors can also be offered low-interest loans. This matter will provide a serious cost advantage to investors. In this way, it will be possible to increase health investments in the country. Hence, countries will be able to reach their social and economic development goals more easily.

Cultural effects of global businesses and multinational businesses: Localization versus globalization - middle-point cultural hybridization
(IGI Global, 2019) Demir Uslu, Yeter; Hancıoğlu, Yasemin
The concept of globalization is a process in which countries, cultures, organizational cultures, and even organizational structures converge with each other and a single standard point of view in the world emerges, and it identifies and defines the differences of the elements. This shows that the processes of globalization and localization are always in interaction. Convergence brought by globalization shows that multinational enterprises perform standard activities at the global level. However, in contrast to this convergence, with the effect of localization, hybrid organizational structures are becoming important especially in order to provide competitive advantage in the national market. While creating hybrid organizational structures, attention is paid to establish a structure that will not hinder the coordination between the host country and the home country. In this context, the definitions of globalization, localization, hybridization, and how the complexity of their interactions are reflected in business strategies are discussed from a theoretical point of view.
