Öğe Electrical vehicles in the context of sustainability: An analysis through social media platforms(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2024) Eken, İhsan; Olaru, Gabriela OanaThe issue of “accessible and clean energy,” which emerges as the 7th Goal as part of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, has become an urgent priority for humanity. In recent years, the necessity to reduce environmental issues and environmental damages necessitates the development and proliferation of alternative and eco-friendly practices. The transportation sector, especially road transportation, is seen as one of the major sources of environmental pollution. Road transportation also makes significant contributions to carbon emissions released into the atmosphere. Therefore, the necessity to reduce carbon emissions and use renewable energy sources is emphasized as an eco-friendly approach. The aim of this study is to examine TOGG, known as Turkey’s first domestic electric car, through content analysis of video content and user comments shared on social media platforms, from a sustainability perspective. Data have been collected from six different YouTube accounts within the scope of this study. It becomes apparent in the context of the study that the concept of sustainability is still not sufficiently understood among the public and that official and private organizations need to increase their awareness efforts within the framework of this concept. Furthermore, it is concluded that the TOGG brand, especially being Turkey’s first domestic electric car, needs to engage more with users and contribute more to sustainable development goals with awareness activities in the field of clean energy.Öğe Creating public opinion in digitalized renewable energy projects: The case of the Konya city(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2023) Eken, İhsan; Kurt, SenaTurkey has a rich climate diversity, and it is one of the countries that has developed in recent years renewable energy production. Renewable energy resources, which are among the elements that ensure the economic independence of a country, can be listed as wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal resources. Turkey provides energy production through its resources. While engineering and geographical science studies stand out on this subject in the literature, there are limited studies on the social reflections of the subject. In this chapter, social reflections on solar energy production in Turkey were discussed and evaluated within the scope of public relations. According to the data published by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Konya produces the most solar energy in Turkey. Hence Konya City was chosen as the research universe. Focus group research was conducted with 16 participants selected from the residents of the city. The social reflections on solar energy were assembled according to the result of the interviews. This chapter aims to generate a guide in forming public opinion on environmental policies.Öğe Acquisition of financial literacy as a life skill: A study on financial literacy awareness of students(IGI Global, 2019) Gezmen, Başak; Eken, İhsanAlongside the phenomena such as crisis, prosperity, etc., which emerged with the increase of global competition, the development of literacy levels has become critical. In the acquisition and development of financial literacy, first of all, the current situation should be determined, then the relevant policies should be developed and the literacy should be acquired through the necessary trainings to be provided. This chapter determines the relationship between the acquisition of financial literacy awareness as a life skill and the participation of the students who took the Introduction to Economics course in the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Medipol University in 2018-2019 in the axis of survey method. Authors discuss the students' financial literacy awareness and skill in general. The chapter also gains insight into the situation of similar courses such as economics and finance to improve the perspective on financial literacy awareness.
