Warehouse location decision in medical sector: A fuzzy comparative study in post-covid era
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2022) Tuncalı Yaman, Tutku; Akkartal, Gonca Reyhan
Without a doubt, the location of the warehouse is a momentous decision in the post-Covid era. Considering a contemporary problem, the authors are aimed to reveal changes in the criteria importance determined in the selection of the warehouse location for the medical products. The difference will be unveiled by comparing the actual situation with the results of a previous study that examined pre-Covid phase evaluations of medical sector professionals and reported the criteria’ importance in ware-house location selection. In the earlier study, the Pythagorean fuzzy (PF)-based-DEMATEL was used to find out the criteria importance. In this study, the importance of the criteria in the warehouse location decisions in the medical sector was revealed by making re-evaluations by a decision-making group consisting of industry professionals. In order to create a proper representation of the post-Covid state, the same methodology was applied in the calculation of criteria importance. Thus, compared to pre-Covid phase, the change in the perceived role of proximity to target markets criterion is found on warehouse location decisions in the medical sector.

Warehouse location selection decision systems for medical sector
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020) Tuncalı Yaman, Tutku; Akkartal, Gonca Reyhan
Warehousing as well known, one of the most important parts of logistics. Today, the efficient and safe operation of storage activities are vital for companies. For this reason, companies have to pay attention to many factors when they are going to construct a warehouse. The most important factors are the structure of land, service availability, the geographical location, distance to customs or ports, climate, natural disaster risk, the social structure of the environment, distance to service markets, infrastructure availability (electricity, gas, natural gas), distance to hospitals and pharmacies. The goal of the paper is to evaluate the factors affecting the decision-making process of location selection of a warehouse for medical materials and services. As part of special material handling, medical goods need to be handled much more carefully. That is why, as far as the medical issues concerned additional criteria might be taken into consideration by the decision-makers. The priorities and alternatives will be discussed and ranked in the following part of this research. Besides, basic and supplementary criteria and their interrelation are determined by Pythagorean fuzzy set (PFS) based DEMATEL technique in order to be a guide for the medical executives.

Linking person-job fit to job stress: The mediating effect of perceived person-organization fit
(Elsevier, 2015) Deniz, Nevin; Noyan, Aral; Gülen Ertosun, Öznur
Job performance of employees and stress at work are very common problems in today’s business world. Many people change their jobs due to high job stress which affects their personal well-being. High stress can be result of incompatibility between the person performing the job and the job’s requirements. This can exacerbate feelings of stress on the job and in an employee’s personal life. Whilst employees can be reasonably expected to adjust to changes in jobs over time, poor job or employee job fit can result in increased stress and inefficiency in organizations. To combat this we surmise that through careful attention to person-organization fit during the interview or assessment phase, organizations can select employees who are adaptable to change and who can work efficiently to avoid the negative effects of high stress caused by person job incompatibility. In this study we aimed to examine in detail the effects of person-job fit and the importance of person-organization fit in order to allow organizations to prevent the high cost of employees poorly suited to their jobs. The research indicates that organizations whose employees are suited to their jobs operate with greater efficiency and adapt to change more smoothly than those whose employees do not fit their jobs. The study also aims to investigate if perceived person-organization fit mediates the relationship between person-job fit and job stress. The results of the study demonstrate that paying careful attention to person-job fit and adjusting employees to the organization are essential factors for decreasing job stress.

In addition, regression analysis and sobel test were performed for the analysis of the effect of the mediation variable. In the first part of the questionnaire which consists of two parts, the questions related to the department where the employees are, their work and training are included. Evaluation of data sharing in production firms and innovation orientation in the effect of management capability on operational performance
(Elsevier, 2019) Çeltekligil, Kudret; Adıgüzel, Zafer
The aim of this study is to investigate and analyze the effects of information sharing on the operational performance of technology companies in the competitive environment in the management skills and innovative focus of the firms in the technology sector. Due to the limitations of the research, only the technology firms formed our sample group and we can give the analysis results only through the technology companies. The sample population of the research should also be considered in terms of the intensive technology-oriented industrial firms. A research model has been developed to examine the relationships between variables and to test hypotheses. The data obtained from the collected 312 questionnaires were responded by the engineers working in 28 technology companies. In particular, because of the fact that the sample population is engineers, they have taken part in our research because they assume important duties and responsibilities in both the operational part and in the innovation orientation. In conclusion, we have proved the advantage of sharing information and being innovative in order not to fall back from competition for technology companies.

A study of psychologcal contract violation, organizational trust, intention to leave work
(Future Academy Ltd, 2017) Adıgüzel, Zafer; Artar, Melike; Erdil, Oya
The everyday situations of business life and the experiences of the employees reflect in their attitudes and behaviours and create a base for the new studies. In particular, the psychological effects of the situations that emerge after the employees had signed the contract and started to work for a firm can cause them to lose their trust in the organisation and lead them to search for new job opportunities. Furthermore, the psychological effects can also negatively affect the operation of the organisations. Because, one of the main objectives of businesses is to achieve sustainability and it depends on the performances of the employees, as well as the profit to be used in productive investments. At the same time, if the qualified and specialized staff, who have been working for the organisation for many years, experience psychological violations and leave the organisation, this can cause significant loss of power and also loss of the investment in the development of the employees. In the increasingly competitive environment, the businesses should keep the employee turnover at minimum level and attract the talented employees in order to reach their long-term objectives. In the study, a survey was conducted on the white collar employees using 5-point Likert scale and the hypotheses were developed about the effects of psychological contract violations on the organizational trust and intention to leave and the data were analysed using SPSS 23 statistical program.

An empirical investigation of career optimism among Turkish university students
(Future Academy Ltd, 2017) Müceldili, Büşra; Ertosun, Öznur Gülen; Erdil, Oya
With the increasing popularity of positive psychology movement in the literature, optimism has attracted many researchers from a various field; however, career optimism has rarely been indicated in the organizational behaviour and human resource management literature. Career optimism, as a part of career planning attitude, is an important factor for career decision making which is a complex process. Indeed, we know little about what career optimism is, its antecedents and consequence in career decision making process among university students. In this study, we empirically demonstrated the relationship among emotional support, task performance, exhaustion at schoolwork and career optimism. By investigating 324 university students (age between 18 and 21) in Turkey, we found that parental emotional support and perceived task performance influences career optimism positively. We also found that exhaustion at schoolwork does not have a significant effect on career optimism. In this regard, theoretical and managerial implications of the study findings are discussed.
