In this study, the effect of skin protective application on reducing skin damage in premature infants was examined. Quasi-experimental research design was used in the research. The study sample consisted of 120 preterm infants between 24-31 weeks and 32-36 weeks in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit of Zeynep Kamil Women's and Children's Hospital. The sample is divided into two groups as experiment and control group. Statistical analyzes were performed with SPSS 21.0 software. According to the findings of the research, it was determined that as the baby's birth week decreased, the skin damage rate increased in both groups. Skin injury score did not change according to gender and invasive / noninvasive respiratory support in experimental and control groups (p<0.05). It was determined that NSCS (Neonatal Skin Condition Score) scores were lower (p= 0.00) in the experimental group babies after the application of the transparent skin protectors compared to the control group babies. As a result, it has been determined that application of transparent skin cover helps to protect the skin of premature babies.
