Partially overlapping tones have recently been paid attention to by the researchers in cognitive heterogeneous networks (HetNets). In this paper, we introduce partial overlapping in the filtered multi-tones instead of full overlapping for different users in the network. Interference, one of the major problems in HetNets, is aimed to be decreased by allowing users to perform partial overlapping. Game theoretical framework is utilized to determine which user should perform partial overlapping and in what percentage. To enhance the system performance further, we also introduce a filter roll-off selection game. In this two-step game, Nash equilibrium existence is proved and confirmed by simulation. Our results show that the system signal to interference plus noise ratio is improved significantly with the proposed two-step game.
