This study was planned and conducted to evaluate the relationship between consumption of omega fatty acids of adolescents with different socioeconomic levels and their emotional state and school success. The research was applied to a total of 400 adolescents selected by random sampling method (190 people from private school, 210 people from public school) from students aged 10-16 studying in a private and a public school in Istanbul. The research data were obtained through a questionnaire prepared in line with the information obtained from the previous research questions and the sources related to the subject, and a 24-hour food consumption record. The analysis of omega fatty acids and other nutritional elements taken by individuals with daily nutrition was done with BEBIS 7.2 program. With the information obtained from the frequency of consumption of omega fatty acids in the questionnaire, the daily consumption amounts of foods containing omega fatty acids were calculated. The grades and end-of-term scores of the verbal and numerical courses were evaluated for the school success of the students. The Depression Scale for Children (CDI) was used to determine the depression levels of the adolescents participating in the study. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 27.0 package program and statistically evaluated. As a result of the statistical analysis, it was seen that 77.25% of the adolescents were below the Depression Scale cutoff score. It was determined that there was no significant (p>0.05) difference between the daily omega fatty acids intakes of the students in the groups with low and high levels of depression. The rate of those who consumed eggs and green leafy vegetables and the frequency of consumption of legumes in the group with low depression level were found to be significantly higher (p <0.05) compared to the adolescents with high depression level. There was no significant difference (p>0.05) between the daily omega fatty acid intakes of adolescents in the low-achieving, successful and high-achieving groups. However, it was determined that the frequency of fish consumption of the adolescents in the very successful group was significantly (p<0.05) higher than the low-achieving group. There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in omega-3 and omega-6 intakes between adolescents whose family monthly income was below and above the hunger limit. As a result of the study, it was seen that adolescents' depression levels and school success were affected by various factors, and more studies were needed to evaluate the relationship between omega fatty acid consumption and depression levels and school success.
