This study was planned and conducted to investigate the effect of omega3 supplementation on gestational age and neonatal development in last trimester pregnancies. The cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted with 142 pregnant women who applied to İstanbul Kadıköy - Koşuyolu Private Istanbul Medipol Hospital Obstetrics Policlinic between 1 September 2015 and 31 December 2016. N-3 support was performed in a part of people where two groups were separated randomly. Demographic data on pregnant women were determined using a previously prepared 'questionnaire' and 'nutrition consumption form'. Body weight and height measurements taken and BMI values are calculated. The physical development of infants was assessed at birth and at first month by comparing the body weight, height and head circumference measurements with standard values developed for our country, cognitive development of infants was assessed using the "Denver 2 Developmental Screening Test". SPSS 23 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. In this study, it was determined that the average age of women was 30,57 ± 4,51 years, 62% of them were university graduates and 32% of them were housewives. When compared to infants who did not receive omega supplements, it was determined that omega supplement infants' gestational age, body weight at birth, height and head circumference were found higher in order of 2.93 days, 145 g, 0.93 cm, and 0.3 cm (p> 0.05). In the omega-receiving group, infants had greater body weight and longer head circumference, whereas in the non-omega group of infants, the height was found to be higher (p>0,05). Despite these differences in physical development, the cognitive development of infants in both groups was found to be similar. As a result, omega fatty acids are thought to contribute positively to infant development and prolonged gestational age.en_US
