The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of conventional exercise approach and balance training with theratrainer balo in addition to this therapy in stroke patients. Forty patients with stroke between the ages of 18-80 who were able to walk independently were included in the study. The patients were randomized into two groups. The exercises, which were based on conventional approach applied to both groups during first four weeks, five days a week, one hour a day, additionally balance therapy was added to the experimental group. The demograpic and clinical data of the patients were asked, their cognitive abilities were determined with Mini Mental Scale. For the assesment of the motor function, mobility and balance, Modified Ashworth Scale, Fugl Meyer Scale, Berg Balance Scale, Functional Reaching Test, Trunk İmpairment Scale, Timed Up and Go Test, and Sit-to-Stand Test, for the assesment of daily living activities Functional İndependence Measurement were applied. As a result of this study, a statistically improvement was found in the both groups in motor functions, balance and mobility (p=0,00). İn the comparison of intergroup relation, motor, balance and mobility functions were statistically different in favour of the experimental group(p<0,05). Result of our study showed that mobility and motor function were correlated with each other and spesific balance training must be included in the rehabilitation programme.en_US
