Objectives: Assessing imagery ability could be important for clinicians to understand or speculate on the limit of a patient’s physical ability in chronic pain conditions. We aimed to assess imagery ability that is potentially affected in patients with Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). In addition, pain characteristics and associational factors between pain and imagery abilities were examined. Methods: Patients with FMF group (n=30) and control group (n=30) were included into the study. Movement Imagery Questionnaire-3 (MIQ-3) was questioned in both groups to assess imagery ability. McGill Pain Questionnaire Form (MPQ) and Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) were used to assess pain. Results: There was a statistically significant difference in all sub-scores of the MIQ-3 imagery levels between FMF and the control group (p<0.05). Mean value for PCS was 23.27 ± 12.52 in which 13 (43.3 %) of the patients had higher scores than 30 indicating catastrophic thoughts. Conclusions: It was determined that the imagery scores of the patients with FMF were lower than the control group. Patients who had catastrophic thoughts showed more scores in IVI scores indicating that the attention processes of these patients to their bodies might be affected. Further large-scale, long-term, prospective, randomized-controlled studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Neuro quantum-inspired decision-making for investor perception in green and conventional bond investments

The purpose of this study is to make a comprehensive analysis of investor perceptions in the context of green and conventional bond investments. For this purpose, a new model is presented by considering two steps. First, a criteria set is generated by considering balanced scorecard perspectives that are finance, customer, organizational effectiveness and learning and growth. After that, the neuro Quantum fuzzy M-SWARA method is considered to weight these criteria. Secondly, seven critical determinants for bond investments are identified that are coupon rates, volume, maturity, riskiness, liquidity, volatility, and tax considerations. Neuro Quantum fuzzy TOPSIS approach is employed to rank these factors. The main contribution of the study is that by combining the balanced scorecard framework and quantum-inspired decision-making techniques, this paper offers a novel and sophisticated decision-making model to understanding investor behavior. Similarly, in the proposed model, a new methodology is generated by the name of M-SWARA. In this framework, some enhancements are adopted to the SWARA technique. The weighting results indicate that meeting customer expectations is the most critical factor that affects the investor perception to make investments to the bonds. Moreover, according to the ranking results, it is concluded that coupon rates are the most important item for both conventional and green bond investors. On the other hand, with respect to the conventional bond investor, tax is the second most essential factor. However, regarding the green bond investors, volatility plays a critical role.

Beef cuts were dried by tray drying (TD), microwave drying (MD), and TD+MD. Salting as pre-treatment was carried out with NaCl or NaCl+KCl salts to evaluate the effect of sodium reduction. The beef was divided into nine groups: three were subjected to TD, MD, and TD+MD; for the other six groups, dry salting was applied with 100% NaCl or 50% NaCl + 50% KCl, followed by MD, TD, or TD+MD. Processing times of TD, MD, and TD+MD were about 660, 250, and 300 min, and effective diffusivities (Deff) were 1.33 × 10−8, 3.88 × 10−8, and 3.57 × 10−8 m2/s, respectively. Compared with TD, the MD procedure resulted in significantly harder texture and lower rehydration ratio (p < 0.05). SEM images of dried beef indicated fractures and disruption after TD, while a compact structure was obtained with MD. Both salt types contributed a softer texture in rehydrated MD, but KCl did not change the hardness values of dried meat. MD could have great potential for drying meat by reducing drying time, and KCl could be applied as a substitute for NaCl without adversely affecting the structural quality.

The investigation of inflammation in drug-naive first-episode mania by measuring ferritin, peripheral inflammatory markers, and their ratios

Objective: Bipolar disorder (BD) is a complex psychiatric disorder with a multifactorial etiology involving both genetic and environmental factors. Increased inflammatory parameters have been shown in previous studies in bipolar disorder. However, it is not known whether ferritin and other inflammatory markers, primarily involved in autoimmune reactions and inflammation, change at the onset of the first episode. We aimed to investigate whether inflammation levels are elevated in the first episode of mania by measuring peripheral inflammatory markers with their ratios and ferritin. Methods: Fifty-six drug-naive individuals experiencing their first episode of mania (FEM) were clinically diagnosed in accordance with DSM-5 criteria. A control cohort (HC) comprising 57 individuals matched with the patients was included in the study. During the evaluation, symptoms were assessed using BPRS (Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale) and YMRS (Young Mania Rating Scale). Blood specimens were obtained from all participants to analyze levels of white blood cells (WBC), neutrophils, monocytes, albumin, ferritin, C-reactive protein (CRP), lymphocytes, and platelets and determine specific protein ratio. Results: Monocyte, Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), Monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and neutro-phil–albumin ratio (NAR), values were statistically higher in the patient group than in the control group. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between ferritin values, BPRS, and YMRS scores.It was determined that NLR and NAR ratios predict the severity of the disease. Conclusion: These findings suggest that while inflammation may not be a definitive predictor for BD, it correlates with the disease’s severity.
