The purpose of this study is to identify the changes that will occur in the impacted tooth and surrounding dentoalveolar structures by reviewing the distribution of stress occurring with the traction of the palatally impacted canine teeth with different forces of kilroy and ballista springs with finite element analysis method. The 4 models prepared are, respectively, Ballista Spring-60gr and 120gr, Kilroy Spring-60gr and 120gr. The values are approximately doubled as the forces increase in the same appliance. But when the appliance design is changed, between the kilroy and ballista springs, the maximum amount of displacement and von mises stress tensions differ. Consistent with the literature, in the kilroy spring models the maximum amount of displacement occurs in the cusp tips of lateral teeth; whereas in the ballista spring models the total displacement values occur in the palatal cusp tips of first premolars. When the minor principal stress aspect is studied, in the Ballista models the tooth with the highest compression stress within the socket is found to be the lateral incisor. Whereas in the Kilroy models it was measured in the buccal root socket of the first premolar. In the Kilroy models second highest compression stress was measured in lateral incisor while in the Ballista models it was measured in the buccal root socket of the first premolar. The lowest values varied between the Ballista and Kilroy models. The displacement values of the opposite teeth where there was no impacted tooth were lower than those observed in the teeth adjacent to the impacted tooth as expected. As a result of our study, the importance of appliance design and force values were observed with clear measurements.
